I was wondering what everyone was using, as far as an exercise videos. If you are using a great video for exercise would you please share which one works for you. I am using a Richard Simmons video right now, and I would love to try another one. Thanks from beautiful Kentucky!

Hello Leatha...
I just wanted to say welcome. I am T-11 and not doing any exercise. I commend you for your activity. At 35 I am noticing that I am getting lazier and lazier...eek! I too would love to hear what everyone is doing to stay active.

Beside working, club meeting, and gambling, I do swimming twice a week. I am able to get on the ground to into the pool, but also can use the pool lift. Many of the San diego public pools have pool lift now a-days.

It gets harder every year to try to exercise, and try to stay active, and for those that can get in a pool and enjoy it,that is awesome! I wished I were near some place that was wheelchair accessible and friendly. I live over an hour and half to a big town that would offer a swimming pool with a lift. So I have been trying things I can do from my home, while I sit and watch TV I try to move around, sometimes I use stretching bands, some times I get a couple of cans of corn or green beans and use them as weights, they are around 1 pound cans. Just move what you can,and try to stretch your arms. It will help you.
Good night to all! God bless each and everyone of us:)

I too try to stay active but I find it hard to find a gym that has any trainers that know anything about SCI. I'm an incomplete quad (c6-c7) but have a usable (not great mind you) left leg. Its amazing at how little these "pros" know. I was told I could still do sit ups since I had stomach muscles but what they forgot was situps require leg muscles which means its a no go. They usually roll one of those dreaded balls to me to sit on but I hate those things.

I would think a call/email to a nearby physical terrorist, I mean therapist might yield some info.

On a personal note, when I was dong my 4 month stint in the hospital after my injury the hospital was visited by Richard Simmons. I was in occupational therapy making a cake when ha came bursting in with his trademark shorts and tanktop. He noticed all my tattoos and told me he wanted to get a salad tattoo. I thought it was cute so I told him I was gonna make a new weight loss program for quads and paras and call it wheel a meal (take off on his deal a meal). He laughed then burst out the room.
