Subject: Wheelchair maintanance advice?

Hello,
I'm new to this site and I don't like barging in so early when I join communities but I've got a serious problem/question... I bought a 'sunrise' wheelchair nine months ago and already the thing is a wreak. I use it every day, with my fiancee/carer pushing me around town and to the shops etc., but the handles are wobbleing, the front wheels fall off as the bolts are sheered through by the metal and now it's a battle to open it (it folds up) as the seat unfolds and the wheel mechanisms resist. I have no idea what the heck I've done to cause all this, but it's driving me nuts- it even fell apart on holiday in central park!! Does anyone have any advice for general wheelchair maintanance stuff I could do to try and eke this thing's life out a little longer until I can afford/persuade the government to fund a new one?

Thanks,
Lucy

Hello Fay'
I also am new at this but I may have a way to get your chair fixed. The is an organisation is called, Senior Medicare Patrol, they look for vendors that are not trust worthy or are just crooked. They are located in all states. Here is their number 1-866-275-5772 or the one I used in Kentucky is !-502-574-6960. Give them a call they might be able to help and also some piece of mind.

There is a place called "The Wheelchair Recycler" I've never used them but I'm sure they could help. They have stockpiles of parts and I think will pay to have it shipped in some cases. If I EVER have any problems with mine they will be the 1st people I call!! Check the out!! The address is : Wheelchairrecycler.org
Good luck,
Angie
