I'm a C 6/7 Quad, 25 yrs. post..I've been using Byscicodyl (sp?) Suppository's up until last year when I was introduced to Enemeez's.
My old routine was to insert the suppository after digital stimulation, wait an hour then get up on the commode and hope for results which generally ended up with me having to be dug out just to have a BM. This caused me having an AD headache, bloody stool, and bad hemorrhoids. Some of my problems stem from use of pain medication for chronic back pain..I take senna, stool softeners, and lactolose to help soften my stool & make things work as they should, but it doesn't seem to help. I don't have a very well balanced diet, but cooking for one sometimes feels like it's more work than it's worth. I'm reading a book now on supplements to take that will hopefully help me with this problem.
I've been trying to use the Enemeez without much luck..if there's no stool ready to come out, I have no luck. I've been in contact with the makers to of Enemeez to try to figure this problem out without much luck so far.
Has anybody else had similar problems? Any suggestions?
Thanks-
Kirk--

I'm sorry that I have not been around here much lately. All I can say is that my life is in an uproar and my health is not good. I can make two recommendations for you. My first recommendation is that you get a colostomy. They are so much easier to manage than bowel programs -- you have no problems with constipation or hemorrhoids or any of those things. All you have to do is change the seal (nothing to it -- takes 15 minutes) once a week and change bags whenever you need them -- probably about one per day. The bag is tan in color and, unless you are aware of what it was inside of it, you would never know.
I have the recommendation is that you try the magic bullet suppositories. They're way better than many enemaeeze-type products.
Thanks for writing in.

I also recommend Magic Bullets. They have worked fairly well for me for 20 years. You can get them here: http://www.allegromedical.com/

Yo Kirk, I was having much the same problems and I need to tell you that eating the right foods is DEFINITELY worth it. I was talking to my trainer about my bowel problems and he told me I need a diet strong in veggies. In fact, 75% of your plate should be veggies. The best veggies to help things move along are green leafy ones. Kale, spinich, chard etc.
I love veggies anyway, so it's no big deal for me to eat like that. But, even if I didn't, I'ts worth it to be able to go a lot easier. Also, eating grains is a good idea. I love steel cut oats, and they're an awesome source of fiber. I've been eating like this for about three weeks (not totally vegetarian, I love meat too, but if you can eat like this maybe 3-4 times a week, you should see results soon) and my BM's are already a lot easier.
This morning about an hour after the sup I had good results. Then a couple of digital stimulations that came out clean---and I was done. Of course it wont always be that easy, but I've had times when I've sat there for hours also.
There's really something to be said for trying to fix things in a natural way. Besides--green leafy veggies are loaded with tons of good stuff for good health. Hope this helps!!

Nick, isn't that a serious operation. My health isn't to good either. I'm afraid a operation would do me in. Tammy |

My fiance had a colostomy done a year ago after 17 yrs without one. He had a lot of probs you are having. Eventually the Autonomic Dysrelfexia which you are having (which is deadly) was so bad we went in via ambulance. Best decision he has made. If you want to call me and ask me questions let me know. We can talk about the good, bad, and ugly. My fiance is a c5/6. Our life and his health used to revolve around his BM...not anymore! Now we think about it about as much as anyone thinks about going number 2:) Or you can talk to my fiance directly if you want. email me at gentrier@yahoo.com |

Yes a good diet helps and lots of water. I take 3 col-rite(100mg ea.) throughout the day and 2 senna plus at night
I have been useing mini enemeez for 7yrs with mixed results. I have been having using them every morning. Some mornings the enemeez will bring down stool about 15mins later and dig stim is required to finish and only produce a small amount of stool 3-4 nuggets. Other days there will be no stool movement. I'm thinking of going every other day, so there will be a decent amount of stool not 3-4 nuggets. I take 3 col-rite(100mg ea.) throughout the day and 2 senna plus at night |

So you're a new quad -- welcome to Purgatory. Well, not entirely, but for a while perhaps. It's pretty rough, huh? It was for me. Life can get better, though, depending on what you do from this moment on. |
